Cosmology (n).
The discipline that deals with the nature of the Universe as a whole. The study of cosmology has a long history involving science, philosophy, esotericism, metaphysics, and religion.
"ON : Cosmology" is a cheerful investigation of astroid impacts, natural disasters and the end of the world. The series imagines the apocalypse as an absurd eventuality rather than a horrific event. The drawings employ scientific "textbookstyle" informational tools not to guide the viewer to a concise and logical conclusion about the nature of the universe, but to illustrate indeterminacy and suggest alternatives to cause-and-effect. The logic of one aspect of a drawing is often thwarted by another, just as the dry and cheerful style of the drawings is at odds with the content. Through the process of exploring and subverting the discipline, "ON : Cosmology" imagines that an artistic perspective on the universe is equally valid to a scientific one.
